Blog-based PPKK Web site launched

April 8, 2007 · 1 Comment

The new English version PPKK web site was launched last Friday. The launching was launched by none other than the blog editor himself, witnessed by his sons and daughters. The editor’s wife was reportedly too tired to watch the historic event. The web editor said that he used free blog at WordPress.com as he found that the blog site offers more attractive free designs plus a hosts of sidebar widgets (please refer to Wikipedia for more explanation on widgets). The editor reportedly spent the whole weekend plus the public holiday on Monday to explore WordPress and experiment with the facilities available there. He did a lot of trials and errors and finally managed to come up with a humble blog-based site for the beloved centre he is attached to. Despite the simplicity, the author was so proud because PPKK has created history by becoming the first faculty/centre at UTHM which uses blog as it’s web site. “I believe this is in tandem with the university’s motto- ‘Leader in Science and Technology Applications’. There are a lot of free things in the Internet which can be manipulated for teaching and learning purposes and blog is one of them”, said the author to himself, imagining as if he is being interviewed by hordes of reporters and surrounded by hundreds of flashing cameras. “I also plan to subscribe to one of web hosts that can host my blog. This will enable me to build a blog-based web site with more advanced features”, he added, giving hint of what he plans to do with the ’seed money’ that he applied from the university a few weeks ago.
